KYBELLA

Kybella, Kybella, Kybella! I love this magic fat dissolving potion at d'lux aesthetics. The active ingredient in Kybella is a manmade version of Deoxycholic Acid. Deoxycholic acid is a naturally-occurring molecule found in your digestive system that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. It is also the only FDA approved injectable treatment that destroys fat cells. Once destroyed these cells can no longer store or accumulate fat, so repeated treatment is not expected once you reach your desired aesthetic goal.

The most popular area to treat with Kybella is under the chin or “double chin”. This is known in the medical field as the submental fat pad. Other areas that can be treated are jowls, bra fat to the front or back of the body, arms, stomach, lower back and sides (flanks), fat roll under buttocks (banana roll) and inner thighs. All areas must be assessed with a trained medical provider to decide if a patient and the area is an appropriate candidate for Kybella treatment.

Kybella: About The Spa

HOW DOES IT WORK?

When injected into the fat beneath your skin, Kybella causes the destruction of fat cells, resulting in a noticeable reduction in the fullness to the treated area. Once the fat cells are destroyed they can no longer store or accumulate fat. Meaning this is a permanent treatment.

At each treatment, you will receive multiple small injections under your skin, and the injection process takes about 2 minutes. The exact number of injections will depend on the amount of fat you have in the treatment area and desired results.

HOW MUCH DO I NEED?

The number of treatments varies from patient to patient and each patient’s personal goal/expectations. Based on experience Kybella results are seen best when you “load up”. Meaning, in treatment one it is recommended to use 2-3 vials in the submental fat pad and along the jawline. This of course depends of the assessment of the trained medical professional. Once treatment is complete the patient should allow 8-12 weeks for re-treatment. Yes, you can re-treat before this, but patient’s are typically swollen for 4-6 weeks. This swelling is NOT apparent to others, but the patients will feel swollen. This should NOT deter you. You should embrace the swelling and know it’s a means to an end. You will start to see results around the 4-6 week mark. Full results are not obtained until week 12. It is best to give the body time to do what it is meant to do. That way we aren’t spending money on something we may not need to. Trust the process.

The average patient receives 2 treatments using 2-6 vials total, however, again the number of vials used and treatments needed depends on the treatment area and patient goals.
